When will my baby start getting teeth?

Teething is the process of baby teeth coming though the gums into the mouth. The timing of this process is variable among individual babies. Some babies get their teeth early while others get them late. Generally, the first baby teeth to erupt are the lower front teeth and this usually begins between the ages of six to nine months.

Your child may experience sore gums during the teething process. Many children like a clean teething ring, cool spoon or cold wet washcloth to soothe their gums during teething. Some parents swear by a chilled ring while others simply rub the baby’s gums with a clean finger.
